The Association Società INformazione (SocietyINformation) was founded in Milan in 2001.
It is an ONLUS (No profit organisation of social utility) and for this reason it is a no profit association and only pursue social solidarity tasks.
Among its statutory aims are those regarding the support and intervention on the various section of social exclusion, with a particular attention to drugs and drug addictions-related issues as well as prison and justice-related issues.
The Association is involved mainly in research activities, study, cultural and informative promotion of issues regarding the protection of human, social and civil rights, the culture of living together and of the environmental protection as well as ecology.
In this way and overall it intends to extend the practice of the culture of solidarity and rights, quality of life and social relations, attention and support to most vulnerable or excluded citizens, greater cultural and political awareness about the effects and scenarios posed by globalisation. Also because of that the Association has promoted and maintains a Research Center, directed by Sergio Segio, who developed the Report on Global Rights since 2003. The Report is produced by the centre editorial staff.

The national institutions and organisations which support the Report on Global Rights project and collaborate in editing and promoting it are:
CGIL, ActionAid, ARCI, Antigone, Coordinamento Nazionale delle Comunità di Accoglienza, Fondazione Basso - Sezione Internazionale, Forum Ambientalista, Gruppo Abele, Legambiente.
The Association has promoted and is editing the website Diritti Globali (Global Rights) which gives information on the same issues which are the core of the Report and offers an online legal consultancy service, run by lawyer Angela Di Pisa.
SocietàINformazione (Society INformation) has been among the promotors of the national Federation of information from e on prison.
